Gumnut Gear is operated by Therese Rankmore. Therese has over 25 years teaching experience, having started her career as a Fashion Teacher with TAFE. Gumnut Gear Sewing School was established in 1992, going online in 1999 with Patchwork and Appliqué patterns and kits.
Gumnut Gear caters for all aspects of sewing from dressmaking to patchwork, quilting, overlocking and curtain making, for the beginner through to the advanced sewer. Each class has a maximum of 8 students in a fully equipped studio.
Classes are held every week, with day, evening and weekend workshops available.
Gumnut Gear offers a large range of patterns, kits and finished articles, all original designs by Therese.
Gumnut Gear also offers a correspondence course “Patchwork By Mail” covering all the basics of patchwork and appliqué. This runs for 10 months, ending with a completed sampler quilt.
Gumnut Gear has been featured in craft magazines such as APQ, Country Threads, Patchwork and Stitching and others.
